鴻巣　柴田元幸さんに聞いたんだと思うんですが、イギリス人の学者たちが日本人に「日本人はいいよね、シェイクスピアが翻訳できて」と言った。私はこの言葉がすごく好きなんです。英語で書かれたシェイクスピアは一種類しか持ちようがないけれど、日本人は無限にバージョンを持てるというこの幸せ。
